Adopt-a-Senior 2020
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the Seniors in our high schools have missed many of the rituals that we all went through in our last year. They have probably not seen many of their friends for a while and have had to learn how to learn remotely.
Mr Andy Stewart, proprietor of the well known running and swimming store in Sugar Creek strip mall, Finish Line Sports (https://www.slfinishlinesports.com/) and also a keen promoter of running in Fort Bend, appealed for the Seniors in his running group to get some recognition for the difficult year that they have experienced. The Fort Bend Optimist Club Sugar Land stepped up to the plate and “adopted” all 8 of the Seniors!
The Seniors each received a letter from our President with an “Adopt-a-Senior” certificate, a free entry to the 2020 Optimist Club Fun Run and a check for $50. We wish them well as they move on to the next stage of their lives and keep running!
Here are the Seniors:
Macie Ellis of Richmond, TX and her twin sister, Maddie Ellis
Yash Hooda of Richmond, TX and Katie Straub of Sugar Land
The Needville, TX boys – Brandon Pollard and Sebastian “Bear” Ricklefsen
Brooke Johnson and Caleb Degeyter – both from Sugar Land, TX
