College Scholarships

The largest project that we do is the College Scholarship Program.  Our Scholarship Program is intended to help a person reach his or her full potential, and without the help of this scholarship, he or she might not have the opportunity to reach that full potential.

The Fort Bend Optimist Club Sugar Land will award the following scholarships in 2020:

● One $5,000 scholarship
● One $3,000 scholarship
● One $2,000 scholarship
● Five $1,000 scholarships

Normally, the award will take the form of a certificate and a check made out to the winner’s intended college.  In certain circumstances, alternative forms of payment may be approved by the Board of the Fort Bend Optimist Club Sugar Land.

The scholarship awards are based on an evaluation of Financial Need and Special Circumstances (35% weighting), Academic Achievement (25%), Personal Achievement (20%) and the written Personal Statement and Essay (20%).

Click here to access the scholarship application form.  It should be filled in on line, supporting documents uploaded, and submitted.  Full instructions are on the application.

The deadline for completing this Application Form is midnight CST, Sunday, March 8th, 2020.
